FIRSTÂ SURVEYS
The Council will provide us with a list of properties they would like to be offered Tenants Choice and from this we will deliver letters that will look like the one below inviting you to contact us. Once you have made contact we will organise a first survey of your home.
FIRST SURVAY
The first survey will consist of looking at your kitchen, bathroom and wiring. Some pictures will be taken of each for reference.

If your wiring is over 25 years old, the rewire will be a mandatory part of Tenants Choice works if you decide you would like to go ahead with them. As a general rule, if your kitchen and bathroom are over 25 years old then they will also be due replacements.
DOUBLE POLE ISOLATOR (DPI)
A DPI needs to be fitted to your consumer unit (fuse board) for a rewire to take place. It is a switch that goes in-between your electric meter and your fuse board. Some properties will already have one of these fit. Those that don’t will be contacted by a company called Yorvik who will organise an appointment to come round and fit one. A DPI looks like the picture below.
ASBESTOS SURVEY
All properties must undergo an asbestos survey before any work can commence. The survey is carried out by a company called Lucion. They will go into all rooms in the property and take small scrapings from the flooring and ceiling. If any asbestos is identified we will have it removed by a specialist company.
